The topic of this post is about looking backwards. Aka, thinking about the "what ifs" in life. Frankly, I don't get it. Until humanity has created some sort of time machine, we can't go back and change our mistakes! Or our choices. So why think about it?! Besides, those mistakes, those choices, form our individuality. We need those. We use them to mature and evolve as people and move forward. Why wonder about what could have been different if you did take that job. Why kick yourself about not getting out of that bad relationship way earlier. Why tell yourself things are going bad because you didn't get that degree you wanted. You can't go back and make your past self choose differently. Stop beating yourself up! If you realize you are unhappy with how things are, then make a different choice NOW.
You don't have time for inflicting pain on your past self! The "present" you doesn't deserve it. Plus, "present" you has tons of challenges to work through in the NOW. If you take time to be upset about the past consistently, you are only allowing more time to slip away. Focus on current life. Change what you CAN, and that isn't the past. Dwelling on unhappy past choices will only harm you, it will bite you in the face. So let it go. Don't look too long there. Don't dwell in a time you can not live in. Yes, remember what happened, so you can grow from it. But don't give it power over you. Live in the NOW.
